The Royal Cruise, January 6th-June 27th 1927 [manuscript]. 1927.

Handwritten by a crew member, possibly a steward, the journal describes the events on board HMS Renown during the Royal Cruise of 1927. The Duke and Duchess of York left Plymouth, England, 6 January 1927, on a voyage to Australia to open Federal Parliament in the new Parliament House, Canberra. The route and ports of call via the Carribean Islands, Panama Canal, Pacific Islands, New Zealand and the arrival in Sydney are described. Everyday activities and social life on board, shore visits and receptions for the royals and crew are discussed in detail. In Australia the ship visited Sydney and Melbourne with the departure from Fremantle on 23 May 1927 being the final journal entry.
